Your first argument can be turned around in the exact same way. #notallmen are trying to isolate a pattern, so that it can be brought out to the daylight where it can be addressed. Bit of a crass analogy, but maybe you get the point.

Your second argument is indeed a great analogy - except for one tiny little fact. In that case, I wouldn't be handed the M&Ms - I'd be one of them. And as such, I'd definitely focus on the fact I'm not poisoned.
